Breast Lift

Breast Lift

woman examining breast mastopathy or cancerA breast lift, or mastopexy, is a plastic surgery procedure aimed to raise and firm a woman’s breasts. Commonly referred to as a boob lift, there are many reasons women who have had pregnancy decide on this procedure. Dr. Douglas Steinbrech performs breast lift surgery for his patients as part of the mommy makeover in and around the New York City area. Dr. Steinbrech has noticed that most of his patients are NY mothers who have seen the negative affects of breastfeeding and pregnancy in general. Breast lifts are very typical in a mommy makeover package. The procedure is not meant to change the size, rather the overall shape and placement. It can help to re-position or reduce size of the areolas, the dark skin surrounding the nipple, but the ultimate objective act as a rejuvenation to the circumstances that have had a lasting effect on your breasts, such as gravity, or breast feeding.

Rapid weight gain and loss for women patients will often have increased breast volume and then a decreased volume with skin laxity becoming permanent.  As a result, a breast lift may be required as part of the mommy makeover to help women regain their pre-maternity breasts back to a more youthful appearance.

Procedure

When it comes to the breast lift surgical procedure, there are a four types of incisions Dr. Steinbrech will consider.

1)Crescent Breast Lift, or Periareolar, is the least invasive and performed on women who only have mild sagging. The name comes from the semicircular incision made either above or below the areola.

2)Benelli or Circumareolar Breast Lift, in which an incision is made going all the way around the areola.

3)Anchor Breast lift is the original technique for a breast lift.

4)Lollypop or Vertical Breast Lift is for women with moderate or extreme sagging problems and the technique is a combination of the Benelli and Anchor lift.

Dr. Steinbrech may choose the right technique after discussing with you in detail based on what is best for meeting you goals and expectations.

Post Surgery

As with any surgical procedure, breast lift patients will experience some pain or discomfort after surgery. A reduction in the pain and discomfort should be noticed a few days after the procedure. Dr. Steinbrech suggests that his patients avoid strenuous activities for at least three weeks, and up to one month.

If you have had a breast lift before you got pregnant there is no need to worry. During the procedure the milk duct and nipples are unaffected. Dr. Steinbrech has performed breast lift surgery on many patients in New York for mommy makeovers who all have had wonderful results.
